Its kimono is decorated with a beautiful pattern of layered autumn leaves in rich red and brown tones, representing the changing seasons. The face is simple and calm, with hand-painted hair that follows the rounded shape of the head.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Usaburo workshop was founded by the celebrated master woodworker Okamoto Usaburo (1917–2009). Starting in 1950, Okamoto revolutionized kokeshi making by introducing new woods and carving techniques, eventually winning the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award.
