This unused vintage Japanese kimono handbag is a stunning example of traditional craftsmanship, made from authentic Amami Oshima Tsumugi (大島紬) — one of Japan’s most prized silk weaving techniques, known for its fine, smooth texture and understated geometric patterns.
The bag features a leaf-pattern, the interior is lined with khaki-colour fabric and includes a a slip compartment, combining elegance with practical functionality.
Oshima Tsumugi is a luxury textile from Amami Oshima, woven from hand-dyed silk threads using traditional mud-dyeing (dorozome) and ikat techniques. Known for its durability, subtle sheen, and intricate patterns, it is regarded as one of the most labor-intensive and valuable silks in Japan.
