This rare Japanese wallet is exquisitely handcrafted from bashōfu (芭蕉布) – a traditional Okinawan textile made from hand-woven banana plant fibers. The outer surface showcases natural tan hues with refined vertical black stripes, while the interior is finished in black fabric with a coin pocket and card slots. Elegant gold-toned corner protectors complete the minimalist yet distinguished look.

The wallet comes with its original wooden paulownia box (kiribako) and paper label, indicating it as an officially recognized traditional craft of Okinawa.

Bashōfu (芭蕉布) is a precious and time-consuming textile crafted in Okinawa, Japan, from the fibers of the Japanese banana plant (itobashō). Its production involves harvesting, softening, hand-spinning, and weaving the delicate fibers. Known for its breathability, lightness, and understated natural beauty, bashofu has been designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property by the Japanese government.
