Large vintage Japanese Sosaku kokeshi doll by Sato Suigai (b. 1920), titled "Kiku no omoi" ("Thoughts of Chrysanthemum"). Crafted from warm, light-toned wood, the tall figure features a layered body shaped like an overlapping kimono, decorated with hand-painted colorful chrysanthemums. The gently tilted head has simple painted facial features and hair, topped with a high bun. The figure features an elongated, fine lathe-grooved natural wood body etched with stilt grass motifs, topped with a tilted head that displays a smooth black bun, soft closed eyes, and small red lips. The bottom of the figure is hand-signed by the artist, stamped with his red seal, and inscribed with the piece's title and its Prime Minister’s Award recognition.

Condition: Good vintage condition with signs of age (please see photos for details). The box shows age-related wear, with partial tears held together with masking tape.
