This vintage Sosaku Kokeshi was handcrafted by the artist Daisuke Takeda, who was active during the 1970s. This doll is a beautiful example of Takeda-san’s signature style, known for their substantial weight, balanced proportions, and a mastery of highlighting the natural wood grain. The figure is finished with minimalist hand-painted details that harmonize perfectly with the warm, earthy tones of the wood.

The doll is titled Dōjo (meaning "Young Girl" or "Maiden") as written on both the box label and the wooden stand, is crafted with a dark bob hairstyle that contrasts with her natural wood-grain body. Her kimono features hand-painted plum blossoms.

  • Size: ca. 14,4 cm
  • Weight: ca. 340 gram
  • Condition: very good vintage condition with almost no signs of age. It comes with its original presenation box and stand with Japanese incriptions.
  • On the back of the base, a hand-written commemorative inscription October 25, 1994 (Heisei 6) and includes a name, indicating that this piece was likely a treasured personal keepsake.
