This is a charming set of four Japanese porcelain chopstick rests (hashioki) in the traditional gourd (hyōtan) shape, a symbol of good fortune and protection in Japan. Each piece is hand-painted with a colorful floral motif in underglaze blue and overglaze red and green enamels.
The smooth white glaze and rounded form make them both decorative and practical for everyday table settings or special occasions.
