This elegant vintage Japanese gamaguchi coin purse features a refined iris (shōbu / 菖蒲) flower motif, symbolizing elegance, protection, and seasonal beauty in Japanese culture. The textile is high-grade Hakata-ori, a renowned silk weaving tradition from Fukuoka, celebrated for its durability, crisp texture, and sophisticated patterns.
The purse is crafted from richly woven silk with subtle gold and green accents against a deep red ground. It is finished with a traditional metal clasp and lined with soft interior fabric, making it suitable for coins, cards, or small personal items.
The piece comes in its original wooden presentation box, inscribed with 「高級博多織」(Kōkyū Hakata-ori), meaning “High-grade Hakata weaving”, confirming the premium quality of the textile.
