About Hida Shunkei Lacquer
Hida Shunkei-nuri is a historic lacquer technique in which a lightly tinted base (yellow–amber to reddish brown) is coated with transparent lacquer. This method highlights the grain of the wood and allows the surface to deepen in color and luster over time. Pieces are valued not only for their beauty, but also for how they mature with careful use.
