This vintage set of two wooden coasters from Hokkaido features traditional hand-carved profiles of an Ainu man and woman, showcasing the rich folk art heritage of northern Japan. Each coaster is fashioned with a natural, irregular live-edge style border and a recessed circular center intricately detailed with the traditional figures.
The Japanese text on the original decorative box translates to "Hokkaido Wood Carving Crafts" (北海道木彫工芸品) and notes that they are handmade (手づくり).
