This charming vintage set features two hand-carved Inuhariko (犬張子) figures—stylized guardian dogs traditionally used in Japan as protective talismans for children and households. Made from natural wood and adorned with vivid red and white motifs, each figure has a bold, expressive face that evokes both strength and warmth.
Historically, Inuhariko figures have been gifted to newborns or placed in homes to ward off misfortune and bring good health. These particular examples reflect a rustic folk-art aesthetic and showcase traditional Japanese craftsmanship and symbolism.
Ideal for collectors of Japanese folk art, spiritual objects, or anyone drawn to meaningful, decorative items with cultural depth.
