Authentic Japanese kiribako (桐箱) wooden box made from lightweight paulownia wood. This traditional box was originally intended for storing or presenting a fine Japanese object such as glassware, ceramics, tea utensils, or craft items.
The box features a handwritten calligraphy inscription on the lid, accompanied by red seals, indicating its original contents and workshop or artist. Inside, the box is divided into five compartments, making it suitable for organizing small objects or repurposing as elegant storage.
Kiribako boxes are valued in Japan not only for protection but also as part of the object’s cultural and historical context. Today, they are often collected or reused for storage, display, or interior styling.
