This charming vintage Kokeshi doll is hand-carved from cedar wood (sugi), beautifully highlighting the natural grain patterns of the timber. The flowing lines of the wood create a striking, almost sculptural silhouette, while the delicately painted face adds a gentle, serene expression typical of traditional Japanese folk art. A decorative braided cord is attached at the top, allowing the doll to be displayed hanging on a wall or hook, or simply placed upright as a freestanding ornament.
