A beautiful set of five handcrafted wooden plates made in the traditional Kaga-bori (加賀彫) lacquer technique. Each plate is carefully carved from natural wood and finished with layers of lacquer in warm brown tones, featuring a stylized floral motif that highlights the natural grain and texture of the wood.
Kaga-bori literally means “Kaga engraving” — a decorative technique originating from the Kaga region (modern Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan). It involves delicately carving patterns or designs into wood or lacquer surfaces and finishing them with lacquer to create refined contrasts of tone and texture. The style reflects the elegance and precision of Kaga’s long-standing artisanal tradition.
These plates are lightweight, smooth to the touch, and beautifully crafted, ideal for serving small dishes, sweets, or as decorative accent pieces.
