This vintage Japanese Sōsaku (Creative) Kokeshi doll is titled "Kantsubaki" with camelia flower pattern. It was crafted by the award-winning artisan Kazuo Takamizawa (b. 1927). Carved from natural wood, the piece beautifully highlights a rich, dense grain pattern across its smooth, rounded form. The body is subtly decorated with large winter camellia blossoms created through meticulous wood-burning and incising techniques. The head features detailed, finely carved hair lines and a separate topknot (mage) perched on top.
