This is a beautiful set of five vintage Kiyomizu-yaki porcelain plates, crafted in Kyoto.

Each plate is hand-painted in traditional sometsuke (blue-and-white) technique, depicting a classic mountain-and-water landscape (山水図) with figures, trees, bridges, and natural scenery. The fine brushwork and soft gradation of blue tones are characteristic of Kyoto painting techniques. Sometsuke porcelain is a Japanese technique for decorating ceramics by painting designs in cobalt blue under the glaze. This blue and white style is also known as "underglaze blue" and produces a vivid, durable finish after firing.

The plates have a round, gently scalloped rim, giving them an elegant and traditional appearance. The reverse also features small hand-painted decorative motifs, a sign of careful craftsmanship. The bottoms show Tōsai’s impressed seal, as typically seen in his Kiyomizu works. Ideal for serving wagashi, small appetizers, sushi, or for use as decorative interior pieces.
