This creative (sosaku) kokeshi doll titled 'Oshin Lullaby' was crafted by renowned artist Hajime Miyashita (1940–2006). The piece depicts a mother and child motif inspired by the traditional narrative of Oshin, featuring a distinct topknot hairstyle, a painted patterned kimono, and a characteristic tilt of the head. Miyashita studied under master Kobayashi Kichitaro, began his career in 1959, and was later honored with the Prime Minister's Award, with his works entering the collections of the Japanese Imperial family.
