This is a beautiful vintage Japanese traditional hair comb, featuring striking vermilion red and black lacquer work. The top decorative panel is adorned with an elegant, hand-detailed floral design showcasing chrysanthemums (Kiku), a classic symbol of longevity and rejuvenation in Japanese culture.
The golden sticker on the original packaging explicitly guarantees the traditional craftsmanship and materials used:
純金使用 (Junki Shiyō): Meaning "Pure Gold Used." The shimmering gold details in the floral design are crafted using authentic gold leaf or gold powder.
日本製 (Nihon-sei): Made in Japan.
蒔絵 (Maki-e): This denotes the specific, highly prized Japanese lacquer decoration technique where metallic powders (like the pure gold mentioned) are sprinkled onto wet lacquer to create intricate designs.
Condition: very good vintage condition with minor signs of age (minor scratches at the back). The original foil shows signs of age.
Size: ca. 13,7 cm x 8 cm
