This exceptional creative Kokeshi is a handcrafted masterpiece by the renowned artist Sanpei Yamanaka. Born in 1926 in Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture, Yamanaka-san was a highly distinguished figure in the Sosaku Kokeshi movement, famously winning the prestigious Prime Minister Award in 1979.
A single, slender wooden kokeshi doll with long black hair, that extends to the base. Her light wood body is painted with small orange plum blossoms and simple facial features.

Condition: great vintage condition with just very minor signs of wear.
