This creative Sosaku Kokeshi is a masterful work by Takeda Masashi, an artist originally trained in the traditional Sakunami and Yamagata styles in Yonezawa. The piece, titled "Doshin" (Childlike Innocence) serves as a testament to the artist's profound appreciation for the natural decorative quality of wood.
Takeda-san’s artistry focuses on intricate carvings rather than heavy paint. The doll features finely textured hair and delicate floral motifs detailed directly into the grain, allowing the material’s organic warmth and patterns to remain the primary focus. The figure has a minimalist, serene face.
