This charming vintage Japanese kokeshi doll by Tatsuro Takahashi is a beautiful example of traditional folk craftsmanship. Turned from wood and carefully painted, the doll features a softly rounded head with a serene facial expression, classic black hair detailing, and delicate red lips.
The cylindrical body is finished in deep black lacquer and decorated with gold and red painted motifs, including an elegant pavilion scene and autumn maple leaves, complemented by flowing calligraphic characters. The contrast between the natural wood grain at the top and base and the glossy lacquered surface adds depth and warmth to the overall design.
