This small traditional kokeshi doll showcases the classic style of craftsman Bunichi Kamata 鎌田文市 (1900–1984) from the Yajiro lineage. The top of the head features his famous "beret" ornament—a row of small, semi-circular red and green shapes painted just under the black hair. The face has a calm expression with thick side-hair . On the body, you can see red layered ornaments painted between green and red stripes.

Bunichi Kamata was a famous Japanese master craftsman of the traditional Yajiro-style kokeshi doll. He began his woodwork training as a young teenager in Miyagi Prefecture and dedicated his exceptionally long, steady career to perfecting his craft. He is best known for his signature doll designs, which feature distinct "beret-like" head ornaments and beautiful layered chrysanthemum patterns on the body.
